We are situated on the Fraser Coast at Hervey Bay Queensland approximately 3
hours drive north of Brisbane. The Maine Coon has been part of our lives
for the past 8 years, our cattery is registered with the F.C.C.Q
Our family comprises of our 4 children, the family dogs and of course our big
beautiful Maine Coon cats. Since the arrival of our first Maine Coon which seems
so long ago now we have discovered a whole new world
and true devotion to these incredible felines. These
cats are total eye candy and the longer we continue with our breeding program
the more our passion for this incredible breed deepens.
We have now extended our Maine Coon family by introducing the Polydactyl 4 years
ago a first for Australia and a wish come true for us here at Rascal Maine Coons
... we will never tire of watching those
extra toes in action.
Our goal in breeding is to maintain the natural
look and size of the Maine Coon while ensuring loving and affectionate
temperaments. Of equal importance our cats are our family and share our home,
this includes all kittens which are born. There is the exception of the Stud
boys for obvious reasons but this is not to say they do often come inside to say
hello and have a play. The Maine Coon is typically a very healthy breed, good
health will always be one of our primary goals which is why our breeding cats
are tested for genetic disorders such as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (H.C.M) and
Hip Dysplasia H.D which is a possibility in
all
felines. Our cats have close veterinary supervision naturally including all
necessary vaccinations, testing and routine examinations including annual
dental care. We choose to be a closed cattery to reduce the health risks of our
cats and
their home environment.
